HOST FAMILY - FARMSTAY AGREEMENT




The following is an Agreement between Contact Canada Educational Services. ("Contact Canada") 
and __________________ the ("Host"), under which Contact Canada agrees to provide, 
and the Host agrees to accept, Participants for placement from time to time, on the 
following terms and conditions:

Placement

1. In the event that Contact Canada finds a Participant for placement with the Host, such 
   placement may last anywhere from one day to one year.  The duration of the placement
   will be agreed upon by the parties prior to placement.  All payments to the host will be 
   made by Contact Canada. The host will not accept direct payment   from the Participant.   
   Contact Canada shall not be responsible for any arrangements made between the Host
   and Participant after the agreed upon period has expired.

2. Japanese, Koreans, New Zealanders, and Australians can obtain a Working Holiday Visa in
   their own country which permits them to work and travel in Canada for up to one year.
   Farmstay participants with this visa can work for up to 40 hours per week in exchange for
   room and board.  Farmers agree to compensate those who work more than 40 hours for
   extra hours worked.  Those participants without a work permit must pay for their
   room and board.  Any work they do is on a volunteer basis.  (These participants are 
   prepared to help out with  daily chores around the farm.)

3. The Host  Family agrees to pick-up the farmstay participant upon arrival at the nearest 
   bus depot and drop them off on the day of departure

Fee

4. Farmers hosting participants without a working holiday visa, will be paid $210.00/1week
or $364.00/2weeks.

  

5. Farmstay Participants with Working Holiday Visas agree to work up to 40 hours per week
   on the farm.

 

Housing Conditions

6. The Host agrees to provide a welcoming and secure environment for the Participant.

7. The Host agrees to provide a room and three healthy meals a day.  Small snacks should
   be available to the Participant.

8. The Host will provide each Participant with a key to the house.

9. The Host will provide a private room with a bed, closet, study table, chair and good lighting.
 

10. The Host will make an effort to show the Participant some local places of interest during 
     the Participant's stay and shall attempt to include the Participant in the Host's family
     activities for the duration of the Participant's stay.  The Host is not required to pay for 
     costs such as entertainment for the Participant if the Participant wishes to be involved 
     in the Host's family activities.

Obligation to Advise

11. The Host will contact Contact Canada immediately if any difficulties arise in his/her 
     dealings with the Participant, and agrees to co-operate with Contact Canada towards 
     resolving any issues which may arise.

12. Contact Canada requires all Participants to sign an authorization form to allow the
    Host to secure medical treatment for the Participant in the event of illness or injury.
    Should circumstances warrant, the Host agrees to secure medical treatment for the
    Participant as is needed.

Termination

13. If the Host wishes to terminate the placement before the end of the placement period,
     the Host shall provide Contact Canada with at least two weeks notice of the termination,
     to allow Contact Canada to find a new placement for the Participant.  In such case,
     all payments from Contact Canada to the Host will cease as of the termination of the
     placement, and any payments that have been made to the Host for any period beyond
     the termination of the placement, shall be returned by the Host to Contact Canada.

14. If the Participant terminates the placement, Contact Canada will attempt to provide
    the Host with advance notice of two weeks.  In such cases, any payments that have
    been made to the Host for any period beyond the termination of the placement shall
    be refunded by the Host to Contact Canada.

15. If the Host fails to meet the requirements or criteria of Contact Canada's Homestay
     Program, fails to meet Contact Canada's standards of conduct, or if the Host breaches
     any of the terms and conditions contained in this Agreement, Contact Canada may
     terminate any placement, and this Agreement without advance notice, and without
     further payment to the Host.  Any payments that have been made to the Host for
     any period beyond the termination of the Agreement or placement, shall be returned
     by the Host to Contact Canada.

16. Contact Canada reserves the right to terminate this Agreement for any reason
     whatsoever, upon 30 days' notice to the Host.

Exclusion of Liability

17. The Host understands and acknowledges that Contact Canada must rely to a great extent
     on the information provided to it by the Participants.  Contact Canada's screening of the
     Participants is limited to the nformation provided by the Participants in their application
     process and interviews.  While Contact Canada will not knowingly retain as a Participant
     any individual it knows to be inappropriate, ultimately the behaviour of the Participant
     cannot be guaranteed.

18. The Host accepts full risk and responsibility for any injury the Host may incur, or any
     damage to the Host's property arising from the Host's participation in the Homestay
     Program.  The Host releases and forever discharges Contact Canada, its respective
     owners, agents and employees, from all actions, causes of actions, suits, claims, or demands
     whatsoever, that may arise from the Host's participation in the Homestay Program.

19. The Host shall maintain third party liability insurance (generally found on homeowners'
     policies).  The Host is also advised to check with its home insurance agent to ensure that
     the Host is covered by insurance for an additional resident.

20. Contact Canada is not responsible for long-distance phone calls made by the Participant,
     or for any other expenses or damages incurred or caused by the Participant during that
     Participant's stay.

Representation

21. The Host represents and warrants that all the information in his/her homestay application
     is true and complete to the best of his or her knowledge and that each family member has
     been made aware of this agreement and is prepared and happy to welcome a visitor into
     their family and home.

22. The host represents and warrants that he/she has read all the points contained in this
     agreement which is titled HOST FARMSTAY AGREEMENT.
